The Miami Springs Police Motorcycle Squad consists of 4 officers riding Harley-Davidson motorcycles. They patrol the city on various shifts, concentrating mainly on traffic violations. Besides speed limit enforcement, motor squad officers also control traffic around schools. Motor officers are sometimes first responders to crimes in progress and they back-up other patrol car officers when needed, and help establish a perimeter to contain a suspect. Motorcycle officers also handle congestion when streets are closed or traffic is detoured. Additionally, the specialized officers provide escorts for funerals and dignitaries and ride in parades.
